Getting a NIE in Mallorca: where to apply in Palma and how to get an appointment
In Mallorca there is only one place for the NIE and the registration certificate, and it is not your local police station. Where it is, how to book and what to bring.
In Mallorca, the NIE and the EU citizen registration certificate (the green NIE, or “residencia”) are applied for in one place only: the National Police in Palma, at Calle Felicià Fuster 7. It does not matter which town you live in: neither Manacor, Inca nor Calvià handle them. You need an appointment, and the appointment is the hard part.
The Balearic Islands are home to 22,632 Germans and around 125,000 EU citizens (Ibestat, 1 January 2025), and anyone who needs the NIE or the certificate has to go to one of these three offices.
Where to apply on each island
One office per island, and all three handle both the NIE and the registration certificate:
| Island | Office | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Mallorca | National Police, EU citizens office | C/ Felicià Fuster 7, 07006 Palma |
| Ibiza | Eivissa police station | Av. de la Paz s/n, 07800 Eivissa |
| Menorca | Maó police station | C/ Concepció 1, 07701 Maó |
Checked in the Illes Balears booking system on 2 October 2026. Watch out for the old address: many directories still give Calle Ciudad de Querétaro. Felicià Fuster 7 also houses the Government Delegation's immigration office, which handles other permits; for the NIE and the EU certificate, what counts is the National Police at that same number.
If you'd rather we handled it, our green NIE service takes care of the whole procedure online, and you follow it on your own page.
What it is called in the booking system
On the appointment website, choose the province Illes Balears and, as the office, “MALLORCA PN Residente UE y NIE, Calle Feliciá Fuster, 7”. That office offers only two procedures:
- POLICIA-ASIGNACIÓN DE NIE, for the NIE (form EX-15).
- POLICIA-CERTIFICADO DE REGISTRO DE CIUDADANO DE LA U.E., for the green NIE (form EX-18).
Each appointment covers a single procedure: with a NIE appointment they will not issue the certificate on the same visit. And since May 2025 you can book at most three appointments a month with the same digital certificate. How the booking system works in general is in NIE appointment in Spain.
How long it takes to get an appointment
There are no official figures. The German community's guides on the island agree that slots are scarce and appear sporadically. For the NIE, mallorcaexperten.de (2025) puts the usual wait at four to six weeks, with up to three months in 2025; for the residencia, mallorca.com (2026) speaks of six to twelve weeks. Summer, with the seasonal workers, is the worst time.
What Palma usually asks for
- The padrón certificate, for the registration certificate, usually less than three months old.
- Health insurance with no co-payments or waiting periods, if you are not working. Employees and the self-employed do not need it.
- Everything in original and copy: the form, your passport and the fee receipt.
If the file is complete, Palma usually hands over the NIE and the certificate at the appointment itself. The documents for each case are in The green NIE and EX-15 form and 790 012 fee.
